Meet Rena Wakama and Nigeria's female basketball team
Battles are ongoing in the world's most important sports tournament, and the Olympic Games were opened by Nigerian basketball players with a sensational victory over Australia. In addition to being good with the ball, they captivated Paris with their charming appearance, and with their triumph against the big favorite, the girls in green and especially coach Rena Wakama drew attention to themselves.
A proper lady in every sense. Energetic, dedicated, disciplined, patriotic, beautiful, educated and always elegant with a perfect dose of femininity and without crossing the line of good taste. Wakama is a former college basketball player, graduated from university in the USA and works there as an assistant coach at Manhattan College. She responded immediately to her country's invitation to become the first woman to be the coach of the most populous country in Africa and accepted it wholeheartedly.
Nigerian women's basketball team draws all the attention, in all parameters. Their - for the rest of the world - exotic appearance, characterized by diverse hairstyles, are a real refreshment for the Olympic Games and it would be wonderful to see them at least in the quarter-finals. D'Tigress (as their nickname is) took a big step with their triumph against Australia, and even though they lost to hosts France today by a big margin (75-54) there is still a clash against Canada on August 4th.
